Rippling Application Status Explained

Rippling is a workforce management platform that combines HR, payroll, IT, and recruiting in a single system. Its applicant tracking module — Rippling Recruiting — is used by thousands of companies, particularly fast-growing startups, tech companies, and mid-size businesses in the 50–2,000 employee range.

You can identify Rippling as the ATS behind a job application if the careers portal URL contains "rippling.com," if your confirmation email came from a rippling.com address, or if the application interface uses Rippling's branding. Many companies embed Rippling into their own branded careers page, so you may not always see the Rippling name directly.

Rippling is particularly common at venture-backed technology, fintech, and SaaS companies — which means hiring processes tend to be faster and more candidate-responsive than legacy enterprise systems like SAP SuccessFactors or Taleo.

Rippling allows employers to customise their recruiting pipeline stages, so exact labels vary by company. These are the most commonly used stages:

Applied
Your application has been submitted and entered the Rippling system. The employer has received it, but no human review has occurred yet. This is the default starting state.

Under Review
A recruiter or hiring manager is actively evaluating your application. This is the first human touchpoint — you have moved from the submission queue to active screening. At most Rippling-configured companies, this status appears within a few days of submission for roles with moderate application volume.

Phone Screen / Initial Screen
A recruiter has decided to move you to the next stage and will reach out to schedule a phone or video screening call. If this status appears without contact, check your email (including spam) within 1–2 business days.

Interview
You are in the interview process — this may cover one or multiple rounds depending on how the company has structured their pipeline. The specific round (first interview, technical interview, final interview) may or may not be visible in the candidate portal.

Offer
The company has extended a job offer. You should receive direct contact from a recruiter with compensation details and next steps.

Hired
You have accepted the offer and the hire is confirmed.

Rejected / Not a Fit
Your application has been removed from consideration. Rippling typically sends automated rejection emails at this point, often with language like "We have decided to move forward with other candidates."

Withdrawn
You voluntarily withdrew your application, or it was auto-withdrawn if you missed a required response within a deadline.

Because Rippling is predominantly used by tech-forward companies with faster hiring cultures, timelines tend to be shorter than at enterprise employers:

Application to first human contact: 3–14 days at most Rippling-using employers. Fast-moving startups may move in 2–5 days; more process-heavy mid-size companies may take 2–3 weeks.

Phone screen to interview: 3–7 days.

Full interview process: 1–3 weeks across 2–5 rounds depending on the role and company.

Interview to offer: 3–10 days after the final interview round.

Total application to offer: 3–6 weeks is typical, though this varies significantly. Series A/B startups moving fast for critical hires may close in 2–3 weeks. Later-stage companies with more structured processes may take 6–10 weeks.

If you have been at "Under Review" or "Applied" for more than 2 weeks at a Rippling employer, the role may have paused, the company received high volume, or your application was not shortlisted but the rejection notification has not been sent yet.

Rippling provides a candidate portal for tracking your application status:

1. Find the original job application confirmation email you received after submitting
2. The email should contain a link back to the application portal — click it
3. Log in with the email and password you used when applying (or use the link provided in the confirmation)
4. You can see your current status, any pending assessments or tasks, and sometimes notes from the recruiter

If you did not create an account and applied as a guest, you may need to use the link in the original confirmation email rather than a direct login. If you cannot find the original email, search your inbox for "Rippling" or the company name.

Some Rippling implementations are fully white-labeled under the company brand, in which case you would log into the company careers site directly.
